ABOUT DAVE ROBERTS

It all started when I was coached on a leader development programme…

Thanks to my then employer, Acergy Norway, I discovered my calling to coach in 2007, and shortly afterwards embarked upon a rigorous professional training with The Coaches Training Institute (CTI).

I worked for several years as an "in-house" coach, and began building experience as a trainer, presenter and workshop facilitator.  My strong preference is to impart learning through interactive workshops.  This is the beginning of "adaptive" change - experiential learning which leads to a sustainable shift in personal behaviours.  I've worked in particular with business groups in the areas of communication skills, coaching and mentoring skills, organisational vision and strategy, and leadership development. I’ve also had the privilege, as leader of the speaker coaching team for TEDx Stavanger 2019 and 2020, to work with many inspiring on-stage speakers.

Professional life...

I began my career as an earth sciences student and was lucky enough to study glacial landscapes in various remote parts of sub-Antarctica, South America and Northern Europe.  In the mid-1980’s, and needing a steady income, I embarked on working life as a hydrographic surveyor.  I worked initially on survey boats and oil rigs around the North Sea, then moved onshore into technical support and project management.

From 1999 I've worked in commercial and general management for several international companies in Norway and the UK, in the process visiting most of the world’s major oil & gas provinces.  I've been involved in contracts and supply chain, Mergers & Acquisitions, project management and services management.  In my last role I established and ran a new business unit here in Norway for a UK parent company.  Along the way I've picked-up various business-relevant qualifications, including an international MBA and a Masters in Commercial Law.  You can see my full business profile here.

Personal background...

I grew up in Yorkshire before heading steadily further north for university - first to Newcastle and then Aberdeen.  I've since lived in the Falkland Islands, Scotland and the Netherlands.  From 2006 I've been based in Norway, which is now my permanent home.

Ingun and I were married in 1982, and we have three grown-up children.  We graduated to grandparenthood in 2012 and presently rejoice in two grandsons.

My background allows me to bring a unique blend of personal and professional experience to coaching and training.
